On Friday 18 May, Anuj Makol and Kim Ashley – the joint Managing Partners of Foys – attended the Doncaster Business Conference.

Both Anuj and Kim left the conference feeling invigorated and enthused by the range of speeches and debates they attended. Some of the most memorable ones included:

  • A passionate speech by Dan Fell, the Chief Executive of the Doncaster Chamber.
  • An informative presentation by Robert Hough CBE, the Chairman of Peel Airports Group, on the future growth of Doncaster Sheffield Airport, and the benefits this growth is expected to bring.
  • A positive debate on the ways in which Doncaster has harnessed young talent, and how it can continue to do so.
  • A lively panel debate surrounding the idea of creating a vibrant cultural space in Doncaster.
  • An opportunity to chat with and question MPs such as Ed Miliband, Caroline Flint and Dame Rosie Winterton.

Many Doncaster based businesses also attended the conference. With them, Anuj and Kim discussed a range of topics, such as Doncaster’s position as an excellent hub for business and culture, and how they can work together to ensure the town’s continued growth. They also discussed the challenges that Doncaster faces and brainstormed ways in which they could overcome these challenges as a community, primarily focusing on engaging the young people of Doncaster and fostering local talent.
