BBC Panorama programme - DIY Justice - impact of legal aid cuts

Comment by Clare Morgan, Partner in the Family Team at Foys Solicitors:-

“The BBC Panorama programme ‘DIY Justice’ that aired on Monday 30th March 2015 provided a shocking insight into the experiences of people going through the court process without a solicitor. In April 2013 Legal Aid funding rules changed significantly meaning that legal aid is now only available in limited circumstances. This withdrawal of funding has had a dramatic effect on family and children cases in particular. Panorama followed some parents through the minefield of preparing for and attending at court in cases about their children, and the impact of the outcome. On the whole, the parents felt out of their depth and vulnerable to an unfavourable outcome without legal representation.”

You don’t have to find yourself in a similar situation feeling out of your depth and at a disadvantage – let us take the strain. The Foys family and children law team offer a range of fixed fee packages to assist clients in pursuing a positive outcome.
